E-mail of January 6, 13 and 20 stats received on January 21. Lix, you gotta scan them sooner than that! I'm getting complaints halfway around the world!

First thing I noticed are the new nicknames, and here they are:

thx for doing stats again lester all the way in hk. u coming back to van anytime soon?

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Jan 25, 2011 06:43 PM

My pleasure! Man, you were monster last week!

I wish I'm in Vancouver. Depending on how things play out in the next few months, I'll have a clearer picture of when exactly I'll be back.

There are so many newbies now that when I come back, THEY'LL think I'm a newbie LOL.

Comment Posted by Timeless Jan 26, 2011 07:35 AM

Hahaha, it's gotta be wrong (the donation I mean), I think I had to pay that week.

Yeah, thanks for doing the stats, highlights aren't the same now...

Comment Posted by yyyello Jan 26, 2011 11:22 AM

Highlights sound so lame without Lester actually seeing the plays...The best highlight this year is the #1 from Jan 13.

There were no stats updates for about 3 weeks and I was starting to believe that Lester got married and picked up 3 concubines in China...alas, the stats are back again. Thanks Lex!

Lester, come back soon...after Lix gets married (and banned from ball like the infamous legend...) we'll desparately need you to run the show again.

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Jan 26, 2011 01:36 PM

Glove, I saw a 10 beside your name on the sheet and there's a scribble in front of it, it seemed to me like a dollar sign but I wasn't sure lol. I would've done the stats sooner but I guess Lix was busy and couldn't scan the stats sheets in time. Then all of a sudden I got all 3 in one e-mail.

"The best highlight this year is the #1 from Jan 13." Oh my god... I scrolled back up to see what highlight it was and laughed out loud hahahahaha!

They are pretty lame. And I don't even know what this one means: "Ivan accidentally through Kwan's legs. Looked good." Like did Ivan himself go through Kwan's legs? Or did Ivan dribble the ball between his legs, i.e. a playground move? I'm so lost...

Just from a points perspective, I see that a lot of newbies are ringers. Who are bringing them in?

"Lester got married" - if I can find a 富婆! =D
"picked up 3 concubines in China" - I don't know about that haha. Actually I've been in Hong Kong since my birthday.

Speaking of marriage, isn't it your turn soon?

I wanna be back. I knew all along the Hong Kong/China lifestyle isn't for me. Is your place hiring? =D

Lester, the newbies won't think you're a newbie. They watch you shoot the ball once and they'll immediately know that you are the true ccwb TD Legend.

We should have Lester do the stats and other guys that played ball that night (i.e. Victor) do the highlights (don't let Lix do it... he'll make up fake highlights like "Lix threw down a reverse dunk in game 10" or "Lix got a triple double 6 out of the 10 games he played tonight").

Zechy, they don't allow gay marriages in HK/China. ;)

Am I the infamous legend? How much I wish I was the Famous Legend (Zechy #7).

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Jan 31, 2011 04:11 AM

I think #7 got married, that's why he's not answering!

"they don't allow gay marriages in HK/China." Alf and Luis, you guys better stay in Vancouver! =D

They watch me shoot the ball and say, "damn, that's an ugly shot but it goes in!" That's the reverse of Rayban's "nice shot that never goes in!"

Whore, are you going to make a Jordan comeback anytime soon and do the double-nickle like Jordan did in NY dawning #45?

Highlight
2. Lix does a 4-step layup and the crowd says LEGAL!

Comment Posted by vince Feb 01, 2011 06:56 AM

wow! amazing, stats and replies! it's been too long!

where is rayban anyways these days?? he hasn't played at this gym before. Whore you should make a guest appearance man...tell your wife that it's a big court and it's very safe and no more eye-gouging. and what happen to your bro?

yo lex, too bad HK/China is no fun for ya. missing good japanese food yet? you'll be totally fine if you returned on the courts, but you won't be jordon like you are in HK though haha

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Feb 01, 2011 01:05 PM

"wow! amazing, stats and replies! it's been too long!" LOL x 1 million!

Now that I'm gone, Rayban can't find anyone else to block, which means he has no purpose to play anymore! =p

Yeah, I thought Jeff was back for good. I think he played 2 or 3 weeks straight, then he disappeared again...

Also missing the fresh air, Bikram yoga, family and you guys for sure.

Don't know about the Jordan reference - I'm Popeye Jones on a bad day and Kurt Thomas on a good day lol!

Comment Posted by danielcslau Feb 01, 2011 04:54 PM

I aim to be a regular again someday. It's just been so busy around the house lately with the newborn. *sigh*... I really really miss ball!

Jeff was back for good... but now he has work on Thursday nights (life guard... only offers him one shift a week, but he needs it for resume building).

Lester, Vince called you "jordon", not "Jordan". Is he implying that our ccwb legend is a knock-off Jordan?

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Feb 01, 2011 06:14 PM

I'm sure he was just lazy not making it a capital letter lol.

Life guard?! Which pool/beach? That's so cool!

Comment Posted by danielcslau Feb 02, 2011 02:40 AM

YMCA. Jeff's been drooling over all the chicks! Jeff Hornysack!

not just capital letter... he switched the 'a' to an 'o'

Comment Posted by Timeless Feb 02, 2011 03:04 PM

If Kobe IS the black mamba? Who's Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo? Looks like a good movie.

pssssh, life guard? who we kidding? Who's life is he "guarding".

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Feb 02, 2011 07:45 PM

Haha! I knew I gave him the right nickname lol!

Ah, can't believe I missed that part. It's like the fake Adidas I see that reads "Abibas"!

He's guarding the ladies!

GONG HEY FAT CHOI!

Where's Lix these days?!?!?!

Comment Posted by danielcslau Feb 03, 2011 09:06 AM

I think Lims is up bfr me...Gen's anxiously waiting for it...Chloe just started school, so Lex will prob be back in Van with his concubines and 15 kids by the time I get engaged...right, Black Mamba?!

I ran into Jeff a couple Sundays ago at dim sum...he looked pretty horny(sack)...hhaha...

Whore, you gotta get back to ball...you gotta break the trend of marriage = retirement...otherwise, the rest of us will be doomed...we'll have to choose no ball or no wife...hahah

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Feb 05, 2011 02:28 PM

"his concubines and 15 kids by the time I get engaged" - hahaha I can't stop laughing! And no, it's not right lol!

Jeff's got horny(sack) written all over his face. Can't hide it.

How do you know GenGen's anxiously waiting for it? She's telling everyone at CC/SPTB?

Comment Posted by yyyello Feb 06, 2011 07:34 AM

I know cuz the last couple times I've seen her, she's got the "When the hell are u gonna propose Lims??" look...hahaha...j/k :P

I ran into Brad Miller at Cattle Cafe last night...haven't seen him in quite some time...I didn't recognize him for a sec and forgot his real name! Patrick? I hope it's right...cuz that's what I called him. =S

I just heard this crazy stat on the Denver/GS broadcast...Den 68, GS 70 at halftime...highest scoring half of all time?

1991...Denver 67...Phoenix......107!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "How do you score 67 in one half and be down 40?" - Kenny Smith

(Final was 143-173...that's a 76-66 second half...what the hell....)

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Feb 09, 2011 05:44 PM

Things I noticed:

1) Pipes is also a Stats Whore!
2) You score 67 in one half and be down 40 because YOU PLAY THUN_ER D!
3) The teams mentioned above (Denver, Golden State and Phoenix) have mostly Jackers and people that play Thun_er D, EVEN TILL THIS DAY. Except Mutombo when he was with Denver!

"I ran into Brad Miller at Cattle Cafe last night...haven't seen him in quite some time...I didn't recognize him for a sec and forgot his real name! Patrick?"
- OMG! That happens to me all the time! I ran into Tog Dawg at Oakridge, and was about to call him Top Dawg, until he quickly looked away cuz he didn't want to say hi! I ran into Brad Miller in Richmond twice and called him Brad Miller both times cuz I forgot his real name. I ran into Haslem at I-Cafe and drew a complete blank for his real name. Pretty soon, I'm calling Jeff, "Hornysack". I think everyone at ccwb should get legal name changes once they get a nickname... makes things easier (except me... don't call me stats whore... it's a misnomer... Zechy is the real stat whore).

That basketball score sounds like an allstar game.

Jackers and Thunder D? I should be invited to that game.

I'll be the new PP! Popeye! =p

Former Chicago Bull, Houston Rocket, Portland Trail Blazer, and, er, Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen is no fan of the Miami Heat. Or ABC/ESPN sometimes-analyst Jeff Van Gundy. Or Jeff Van Gundy being a fan of the Miami Heat.

In an interview with SLAM that went online today, Pip got right to the point, after you hopefully excuse his word, on his prospects for the Miami Heat.

SLAM: You came out on the winning end of that "Will the Heat win 72 games?" discussion. How'd you know it'd be so tough for them to win so many games?

Scottie: I just felt it was an insult to every team that's played in this League to think that one team can be put together, and now all of a sudden we got-excuse my word-a jackass like Jeff Van Gundy saying they can win 72 games and break the Bulls' record. Who is he? So that was just something that he totally took out of proportion, to some degree-with respect to those two players, or I would say two and a half players, since I don't think Chris Bosh is half the player of Lebron James. But there's no way those guys are gonna break any type of record. I don't think they can break the franchise record in Miami, or the state of Florida, I should say.

Well, I should say! (This is where I fan myself because Scottie used a rude word.)

Full disclosure demands that I point out that I predicted 70 wins for the Heat this season, fully aware of what it takes to be a 70-game winner in this league after having watched (and re-watched, and re-watched, and re-watched) Scottie and his Bulls win 141 games over two years between 1995 and 1997.

LeBron James has always been the ultimate regular season player, take that for what it's worth to you, and I was coming off watching the Boston Celtics play .500 ball to close the second half of 2009-10, and the Orlando Magic stink the bed in that year's postseason. I thought the Heat would eat up the wins, but with injuries and a slow start, Miami is only on pace for a 60-win season.

But even that is pretty close to beating Miami's franchise record, there, Scottie. 61 wins, from back in 1997. And 60 wins is Orlando's all-time best, set in 1996. As the Heat get healthier and the faces become more familiar, look for Miami to pick it up.

Pip might be wrong about the all-time records, but check out the years I just listed above. When the Bulls were piling up 69 wins in 1997, Miami put together 61 in the same conference. Same for 72 for Chicago the year before, and 60 for Orlando (even playing without an injured Shaquille O'Neal for six weeks). That's some pretty stiff competition, so you can see why Pippen chafes at us handing a coronation to the

Miami Heat before they've done a damn thing.

Then again, Scottie, they asked both Jeff and myself. And we answered. And KG barely looked like he could walk last year.

The Charlotte Bobcats are in the midst of a swoon, losing five of seven games and falling out of the East's playoff bracket with Wednesday's loss to the Indiana Pacers. And with injuries crippling the roster on one of the team's rare chances to practice - with the NBA's busy schedule, practices after training camp are few and far between - the team was forced to rely on a member of its front office just to fill out a five-on-five game. The owner actually. Pathetic, right?

Pathetic that the owner kicked a little butt, I should add. Because it was Michael Jordan. The 48-year-old Michael Jordan, who hasn't played in the NBA in eight years, but Michael Jordan nevertheless.

The Charlotte Observer's Roy Green Jr. has the story:

"He's Mike. He's been kicking our [rear ends]," Bobcats captain Gerald Wallace(notes) said Thursday after Jordan participated in the team's practice again.

"He still has it. He doesn't have his quickness, but he's a scorer, he's a shooter. The last thing to go is your jump shot, and he still has that."

Jordan, who will turn 48 next week, wore an orange jersey during practice and iced both knees when he was finished. Asked if the orange jersey meant Jordan got special treatment on the court, Wallace said no.

"We don't treat him like a quarterback out here. We hit him," Wallace said of the Hall of Famer, who did not speak to reporters. "It just means he's on third string."

Third string on the Bobcats means the 10th-to-15th man on a mediocre Eastern Conference team. But for a 48-year-old? Not bad, Michael Jordan.

The Associated Press reported Jordan - and this should come as no surprise - was hunched over a chair and swaddled with ice bags all over his knees. But, again, people half his age would probably need an IV and a stretcher after battling with the likes of Gerald Wallace in an actual NBA practice. So, once again? Not bad, Michael Jordan.

For those who are wondering, a comeback is not in the offing for MJ.

Even if he did have the nerve, NBA owners are not allowed to play for their own teams, so Jordan (as was the case for Magic Johnson in 1996 with the Lakers, and MJ in 2001 with the Washington Wizards) would have to sell off his stake in the Bobcats in order to take the floor.

The difference now is that Magic and M.J. had a small stake in the Lakers and Wizards, whereas the 2011 Jordan has a controlling interest in the Bobcats. Complicating things further is the fact that M.J. didn't exactly buy the Bobcats with a big wad of his own cash - rather, he agreed to mostly assume the team's many, many debts. So it would be a hard, complicated sell, one that wouldn't resolve itself in time for Jordan to sign before the playoff roster cut-off date (March 1), or even the end of the NBA season.

All that to end up on a sideline, covered in ice? This might not be a one-off practice performance, but this will be as far as it goes.

Back to Pipe's post for a minute. Here are the stats for that game:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199011100PHO.html

Notice the Suns only attempted 2 trifectas and made none. It was either a layup drill or their mid-range game was in full effect. Or both! Mr. Jeff Horny-Sack was on that Suns' team! A couple of my personal favorites also played in this game as well: Cedric Ceballos and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (aka Chris Jackson).

Please let me know if the dates do not correspond to the stats because no dates are shown on the stats sheets (they were sent as one pdf file).

Highlights
- We have 19 people so Felix is subbing for every team. I bet he was on the cheap team every time!
- B.P. up-and-under layup in game 6.
- No game number is specified for the highlights below:
- Ferd's monster spin move on Edison.
- Vince had 4 blocks on him (all on one play or 4 separate plays?) but always got the rebound back. It then says Alf's rebounding it but Alf's no even on the same team as Vince. I'm confused. =(
- Zechy saves the ball from going out of bounds and passes it through Edison's legs for Brian Phi to score. That's nice!
- Eric Go! How many years has it been since he last played at CC? HIGHLIGHT!
- Edison's team won the last 7 games. That's like half the night right there! And Vince had the last 2 game-winners!

- Can Rayban make a comeback? Or is he waiting for his Spirit before doing so?

Cheap team maybe getting cheaper: "If Richard Hamilton negotiates a buyout of his contract with the Pistons, he'll likely have to give back a portion of the $25 million he's owed over the next two years. The Celtics remain interested in Hamilton as a scorer off the bench."

I love the last quote lol - it's golden: "The Nuggets are fighting to hold together a locker room that has grown frustrated with Carmelo Anthony's selfish play. Denver's players and coaching staff are frustrated with Anthony chasing shots and points over winning games, his refusal to listen to coach George Karl and how he has distanced himself from the team as the season has progressed. The Nuggets are working to sign Karl to an extension and sources claim he's more comfortable coaching the team without Anthony. For these reasons, few believe the Nuggets can still sign him to a three-year, $65 million extension. "With the way he's distanced himself from the team, the organization, they're kidding themselves if they think he's signing a new deal," one league official said. "He hasn't checked out on the season because he never checked in.""

The Basketball Hall of Fame turns its back on Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller was never a strong defender. Even for shooting guards, his rebounding and assist totals were poor. He averaged over 22 points per game just twice in an 18-year career, 17 of those seasons which were spent starting and playing heavy minutes. His career Player Efficiency Rating was an 18.4, around what Brook Lopez is averaging this season, and his high-water mark in PER saw him finish the year with a 21.4 PER, which is around where the Los Angeles Clippers' Eric Gordon was at before he injured himself a few weeks back.

There are legitimate concerns as to whether or not Reggie Miller, for all his celebrity and playoff contributions, is a Basketball Hall of Famer.

But for the guy to be left off the ballot? The Basketball Hall of Fame, in a half-century of low points, has hit another new low.

Miller was considered this year's most heralded nominee, but apparently did not receive the necessary votes to become a finalist in his first year of eligibility. The list of finalists will be officially announced Friday.

Miller was a nominee in the Hall's North American group, which requires him to appear on seven of nine ballots to become a finalist. Finalists then need to receive at least 18 of 24 votes from a different panel to be inducted. The inductees will be announced at the NCAA Final Four in April with enshrinement ceremonies likely scheduled for September.

This is just astonishing. If the voting committee behind this brand of voting can't bother to recognize Reggie Miller, who YOUR GRANDMOTHER knows about, than what hope does North American pro basketball have in this embarrassment of an institution?

Again, Reggie was a shoot-first guy who really didn't contribute much outside of hitting jumper after jumper, so it's perfectly reasonable to question whether or not he deserves a trip to the Hall in comparison to other NBA players of his era. But there shouldn't be any real qualms with voting him in. Discuss it, sure, and be mindful about his place among his peers from the era, but don't overreact.

Overreact about the ballot embarrassment, though. React accordingly, yell a lot, and then overreact on top of this. The NBA needs its own Hall of Fame. David Stern has sold out to that nebulous group of Eddie Haskell-types from the NCAA, and it's a joke that NBA players consistently have to be regarded as second-class citizens to NCAA coaches who just managed to hang around for a while.

In closing, I'll leave you with this. Among NBAniks, it is common knowledge that just approximating your regular-season stats in the playoffs is quite the accomplishment. Because the pace slows so much, teams have hours of game tape to use in anticipation of defending you, and because the competition is so enhanced, just coming close to those regular-season per-game averages that were trumpeted up by a few visits to Clipperville is worth a standing ovation.

Reggie Miller, for all his bluster, brought it in the postseason. He averaged 20.6 points over 144 career postseason games, as compared with 18.2 points in the regular season. And a 60 percent True Shooting mark, which takes into account 3-pointers and free throws, done mostly with a Knick or Bull in his sternum.

Dennis Rodman was the flamboyant rebounder who won five NBA titles with Chicago and Detroit. Jamaal Wilkes won four NBA titles with Golden State and the Lakers after starring at UCLA. Tex Winter was the architect of the triangle and triple-post offense. The other finalists are former NBA stars Maurice Cheeks, Chris Mullin and Ralph Sampson, five-time Olympian Teresa Edwards, Stanford women’s coach Tara VanDerveer, former NBA coach Dick Motta, Philadelphia University coach Herb Magee, college referee Hank Nichols, and Al Attles, the current vice president and assistant general manager of the Golden State Warriors.

Surely the writer's dissing him. Here are the good comments (I know it's long):

- So lets see, 5-time All-Star, 1 of 5 in the 50-40-90 Club, 57 points in a game, 25 in the 4th Qtr, 8 in 8.9 seconds while down by 6 with 18.7 seconds left in a playoff, 39' shot for OT, #12 on the list of all time points, Did Rodman, Checks, Wilkes do any of those? Rodman was known to shoot early in his career, but was a head case in Chicago. Maybe they should rethink and allow the former HOF members choose.
- Thats crazy, Miller is the best candidat from the list!
- He always played hard and made opposing teams play harder. He was always the x factor of his team. He gets my vote. He belongs to the Hall of Fame. Like any player from the "not so popular team", he will not get the vote he deserves. that is BS.
- As a Knicks fan who still has bad dreams about Reg....this is a SHAME.
- Teams built their Defenses around denying him the ball, cuz once he got it, and just a tiny bit of space, he woudl get a shot off in a hurry... and make a lot of them! This is truly a disgrace, ala how the NCAA chooses its BCS winners and losers.
- During the Bulls 6 championship runs, only one team took Jordan and the bulls to a Game 7, and that was Reggie and the Pacers, ECF's 1998. The Hall should be ashamed.
- What a joke most clutch player of his generation besides MJ.
- BAD, BAD Decision making. That's why all voting should be done by Hall of Fame Players. The writers should be taken out of the process. Reggie Miller played his role and came up big, when he was suppose to. He never won a title, but The Hall of Fame is not The Hall of Titles, it's a tribute to and shrine to the game of basketball. Reggie made an impact on the game and one of his bench marks was recently surpassed by Ray Allen. 60% FG percent in the play offs, are you kidding me.
- As a Knick fan, I love to see Reggie spit on and ignored, it makes me very happy but this is just wrong. He was a top 5 or top 10 player from his prime, one of the greatest clutch shooters in the game. If he cant even get on the ballot than know one should ever be voted in.
- If I had to choose one player to shoot a 3-pointer at game speed to save my life, it would be Reggie Miller. He defines clutch player. One of the best shooters of all time. One of the most hated players in basketball for good reason. Ask MJ, Charles Barkley, or John Starks if he deserves to be in the HOF.
- What does never winning a championship has to do with it? There are plenty of great players in the HOF that has never won a championship. He was one of the most feared players in his playing day. Overated? That's like like saying, "Stockton was overrated because all he did was give asists to Karl Malone!" Who couldn't get 15-20 assissts per game with Karl Malone trailing on the fast break. But, that would be ignorant to say that Stockton still wasn't a great player. Also, neither Malone or Stockton won a championship either. But, they're in the HOF. Ridiculous!
- This makes you wonder which HOF is a bigger joke, the Basketball HOF or the Rock n' Roll HOF. If Dale Davis makes some free throws in game & of the eastern Conference Finals in Chicago, the Pacers would have sent Jordan back into retirement one ring short. He wouldn't be passed on the all time three point shot list if he had played his entire career with the three point line like Ray Allen has. That said, he is still fourteenth all time in scoring. And the fact that Knick fans are taking up for him speaks volumes. He was the most hated man in NYC for a long time. When your sworn enemies give you love, it's about respect. Much Love Reggie!!!
- Here, here. Reggie was always a class act, and showed a loyalty the NBA never sees anymore. An 18 year man who was the heart and soul of the pacers for so many years? And who the hell could forget him playing with Spike Lee practically on his back in the Garden? Come on, hall of fame. Get it together.
- Is it Miller's fault he wasn't on a team surrounded by tons of great talent? Not at all. Plenty of great players don't win it all in every sport, not because its any fault of theirs. You're basically saying that some player on a championship winning team who might be a horrible player overall has more credibility than Miller. That's just assinine.
- The 3 point clutch king, sole possessor of the 8-point play, didn't make the hall? I agree, that's bogus. Why doesn't the NBA have it's own hall? I always wondered that too. What, they can't afford it? C'mon stern, you were worthless your entire career as commissioner, do SOMETHING to make your mark on the game.
- Disgusting. I don't know whats going on with basketball these days...makes me want to stop watching.
- The hall of fame should be for players that made an impact on the game. When you talk about basketball during the '90s you have to include Reggie Miller just for his impact during the playoffs. He should've been headlining this years class and yet he doesn't even make the ballot cut.
- Reggie Miler put FEAR into every Bulls, Knicks and Pistons fan in the 90's and those were the TOP teams to beat! He also...excelled in the Playoffs and without him...the Pacers were a worthless team. When someone says "Indiana Pacers" the first thing you think of is REGGIE MILLER! These are the reasons why he should be a HALL OF FAMER hands down!
- This is *&^s%$#@! He was the the second best 2 guard after Jordan. He played forever and showed people that 35 years old isn't old! He was Mr. Clutch and this is coming from a Knick fan that wanted him to break a leg every year when we faced him!
- These folks need to remember...STATS are part of the picture...even if his numbers seem low in certain areas....on his team he was a specialist...score the ball from deep. He did that better than almost everyone in his era...again STATS don't paint the complete picture...watching the games and the player operate gives you a clearer appreciation of how good or how a player impacts the game...and REGGIE made a huge mark on the game every time he hit the floor...I mean the amount of attention and defensive scheming and planning this guy faced from opponents and he still managed to overcome it to be great. A NO BRAINER for anyone who knows basketball...this guy is HALL OF FAME status!!!
- Give me a break with the stats, there are some people in the hall of fame that weren't even HALF the player Reggie was, and I bet he could STILL go out there and shoot them threes if he wanted to.
- He wasn't just a jump shooter. No one could run off screens better than Miller and if he were in the league today, he'd probably be known as one of the better defenders in the league. He was a fine defender during his era too. He never played lazy and always got over screens (when he wasn't involved in his theatrics). Hit big shot after big shot. Came into the league as a slash and drive guard and had to really develop the accuracy in his shot (he always had the unlimited range, however). Most of all he played the game with heart like few others do. Definitely an icon of the NBA during the 1990's.
- This is why I stopped watching basketball after Reggie retired! Anyone who had ever watched one of his games knows that this man was for real. He didn't go out and play for money or fame, he went out and poured his heart out for us all and I owe some of my best childhood memories to this man. How dare anyone say he doesn't deserve to get in. Love him or hate him there is no room to deny him his glory. Even the Knick fans know the truth...
- Are you serious....... you select Chris Mullin for the HOF over Reggie Miller?
- Even if you hated Miller, you know he was the biggest threat coming around those screens to drill jumpers in your face all game long. This guy worked his tail off to draw fouls, get to the line and get in your head. His play in the playoffs alone is worthy of a 1st ballot HOF. Guy was rarely injured, got to work early every day and gave it his all for the state of Indiana. Goose bumps to this day watching some of his old games. MJ was down right scared of this dude and he was the GOAT. Even his farewell speech tour was a class act. Love the small market teams with guys who wanted to stay with their small market teams their whole life. Hats off to the only professional athlete that can bring tears of joy to a grown man watching a ball game!
- So a one dimensional cross-dresser gets nominated, but one of the most clutch players in NBA history isn't worthy?
- It seems like hardly a day goes by without the NBA finding a way to discredit itself.
- The NBA has become a league of misfits. You need to have a ton of tats or behave like a thug to become popular. The fans of this era have no idea what character is and ask someone what a team player is and they would rather talk about something else.
- You gotta respect him for not leaving the Pacers and chasing a Championship with Boston too, he respected the fans that helped make him a star in Indiana, I don't think there is one player in the NBA that would do that today.
- Any true fan of basketball knows what Reggie brought to the game. He may not have been a great defender, but ask those who had the task of defending Reggie. Not easy. Everyone talks about loyalty these days with the players today. Reggie Miller stayed with the same team his whole career.
- I respect the comments from the Knicks' fans I've read - classy comments, and says alot when you can put aside being a fan, and appreciate a hated opponent. And, I believe it says something about Miller as a player - he didn't just hang out around the 3 point line...it's not like he was a 'spot up' shooter like a Kerr or Horry, waiting for a kick-out. He worked his ass off, never stopped moving, wore the opponents out, and, at the end of the game, when everyone knew who was going to get the ball, found a way to get open, and, more often than not, hit the shot that was the dagger in the opponents heart. And, what were the Pacers before, and after, Miller. I could go on, but the issue isn't whether you agree with whether he deserves to be in the Hall, it's whether he deserves to be on the ballot. And on that point, there is not a logical cogent argument you can make that Rodman and Sampson deserve to be on the ballot, but Miller doesn't.
- Are you people high? championships do not define HOFers. I was a long time miller hater. My god anytime that man touched the ball you felt like it was going in. Yeah he wasnt a great defender and he didnt have many rebounds or assist. But when its all said and done neither did MJ? Im not going to try and say Miller should be on the same court as MJ but he should be recognized for what he did. He scared the crap out of opposing fans. I agree the fact that Knick fans are giving him love shows you how good he was. I used to love the antics between him and spike lee at the garden. Yeah he didnt win a ring but who cares that man made the three point shot dangerous and had ice in his veins. Not only put him on the ballot but put him in. You almost gotta ask yourself this question. Take any other two guard from the era besides MJ and say would I want this guy on my team or face him? I cant think of another number 2 i would take over Miller?
- And let's add that Reggie Miller regularly duled Michael Jordan, Joe Dumars, John Starks (And the KNICKS) three of the TOP defenders, back when defense was DEFENSE! Reggie is one of the top shooting guards... and based on the offense, you don't get a lot of assists and rebounds as a first option catch and shoot player.
- Give me Jerry West or Reggie Miller in the clutch...
- If Reggie doesn't get in, you'll never have a Pacer in the HOF.
- Im a Huge Bulls fan and this is just plain stupid miller deserves to be on this ballot/And so what he dont have any rings Jordan and the Bulls kept a lot of players from getting rings during this era.
- I'm a lifelong knicks fan, and i'll tell you what i'll remember about reggie. He was MONEY when it mattered.
- I'm surprised people are this shocked that the committee decided to give Reggie an ego check. He's one of the most cocky, annoying, egotistical players ever - on and off the court. I don't know if he or his brother, I mean sister, is more annoying. BUT he deserves to get in though and he will.
- Ralph Sampson made the list but not Reggie Miller. That's... pretty stupid.
- This is an absolute disgrace, to leave a highly respected, gunslinger/shooter, big game moments regularly, game on the line or close and Reggie have the ball you basically could count it over. Reggie step up in a number of big moments and that counts more than any man piling up statistics and cannot do it in big moments. The people who select must be retarded, drunk, or smoking something. This man stood tall with Jordan and the rest of them. Reggie is more than a hall of famer, he is one of the greatest players of all time. You cannot expect him to win as much rings as Kobe, he didn't have the number of great players like Kobe, a big market team where money wasn't the issue and they could bring all kind of great/good players.
- So what if he didn't win a ring? When you thought of the Pacer franchise, you thought of Reggie. When you thought of clutch shots, you thought of Reggie. When you thought of three pointers, you thought of Reggie. When you thought of moving without the ball, you thought of Reggie. Winning a ring is a team accomplishment, but being in the Hall of Fame shows individual greatness, achievements and contributions to the game of basketball. With that said, this is all quite a shame.
- The Hall of Fame criteria definitely sucks. What the hell were they thinking? Hang in there Reggie, justice will come.
- He'll get in eventually. Just not this year. Reggie's a Hall of Famer. True basketball fans know this. Voting him in is just a formality. How many of you held your breath every time Reggie threw up a crucial 3-pointer against your favorite team? And how many of you cried out in frustration when it went in? Even with somebody's hand in his face? Reggie made his mark on the game and he built up quite a reputation no matter what his stats were. Like the other guy said Reggie always brought it come play-off time, he was fearless and he was one guy that the defense always looks out for. So, thanks for the memories Reggie! You're in our Hall of Fame!

If I get a vote for CCWB Hall of Fame one day, my pick would either be Mark or Anders! =p

Took me a while to read that whole thing on Reggie, he was definitely one of my favorite players in that era. Shooting is the most basic skill in basketball, what are we talking about her? Basketball Hall of Fame right? RIGHT?!

typo, I meant to type
what are we talking about here? It is the BASKETBALL Hall of Fame right? RIGHT?! Not practice.

LeBronze
Kobe is Gold
D-Wade is Platinum!

;) Just bugging you.

The court looks really nice. There's no way guys like Calvin, Brian, Erick, Zechy and Justin doesn't dominate there though... there's so much room for them to maneuver. Bad for three point jacking, thunder d playing guys like me!

Reggie Miller is borderline HOF... should definitely be on the ballet though. Plus, he get bonus points for attending PRACTICE!!

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Feb 22, 2011 05:55 PM

Iverson! Steve Iverson! What happened to him and Yoga Ball? It's been a while eh?

Congrats to Delonte! He's engaged!

Platinum LOL!

That was a pretty competitive All-Star game. LeBronze should've shot that 3 at the end instead of passing it off to Bosh to shoot it.

I know Jamaal Wilkes was a decent player, but he was like the 4th option on a really really stacked Lakers team back then. Reggie however didn't have the physical gifts and had a mediocre supporting cast for most of his career. He'll be in eventually I think.

Garmelo to the Knicks! Who's next? CP3, D-Will or Tony Parker? I know Billups is shipped too but he should be gone at season's end.

I think we should stream CCWB live to Lester so taht he can take the stats in real time and update the forum in real time. Ultimate statswhoring...

Is that Lims or LeBron? (Btw, I regret my Kobe shoe...Adidas Crazy 8 purchase...I should have stuck to my instincts...nothing good can come out from someone nicknamed Therapist. I ended blowing my bank account to get LeBrons...one of the best shoes i've ever had...now if it only came with LBJ muscles...)

"should stream CCWB live to Lester so taht he can take the stats in real time and update the forum in real time. Ultimate statswhoring..."

Wow, could you imagine? That'd be NBA style.

Skytrain is such an awesome nickname. It's probably the best nickname in CCWB (other than Top Dawg of course). Who came up with that?

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 07, 2011 05:09 PM

You put all the newbies on one team with that live stream and it'd be like watching the NBDL. I'm sure they are all ringers!

I think Thun_er did. I mean Thun_er _i_. He heard C-train and immediately came up with Skytrain. I think ghey Ray rounds out the top 3 in the nicknames category with the likes of over-Ray-ted, Rayban, Big Country, Greg Oyster-Tag, etc. Top Dawg 2 gets honourable mention. =p

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 09, 2011 02:57 PM

Wow, really?... Chicago owner Jerry Reinsdorf is very optimistic about his franchise's opportunity to win multiple titles while built around Derrick Rose. "If you don’t see something special in Derrick Rose, then you’re blind," Reinsdorf said. "We have an outstanding coach, an outstanding bunch of players, the team is deep, and if we stay healthy, we have an awfully good chance of winning at least four championships." There have been a lot of talk about Derrick Rose's MVP campaign and received an endorsement from Michael Jordan. "MVP of the season," said Jordan. "He deserves it. He's playing that well, without a doubt." Rose's Bulls defeated the Bobcats by a final of 101-84. "It's great that he said that," said Rose. "It's an honor. I'm speechless. But I'm just trying to keep winning. The award will come if we keep winning. I'm just trying to play hard and aggressive and with an edge." Rose has developed his leadership skills, but recognizes the differences between himself and Jordan. "We're two different people," Rose said. "He's more talkative than I am. I'm starting to talk a little more. You can tell being around him he was always vocal with his teammates. Just hearing about some of the stuff he was saying and some of the stuff he did like shooting free throws with his eyes closed, I would never do that."

Comment Posted by Timeless Mar 13, 2011 06:26 AM

why not? I think the bulls are contenders, they've been getting better for a while now.

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 13, 2011 01:17 PM

Holy smokes, they are half a game behind Boston in the Eastern Conference standings and are third best overall in the league! I know Dwight's not too happy in Orlando because he doesn't feel his team is strong enough to compete with the big dogs. Can you imagine if he joins them? Game over! But that's if the salary cap fits his contract.

Rose is the favorite to win MVP. LeBronze will probably be second in voting...

Comment Posted by yyyello Mar 13, 2011 01:25 PM

Lester: Yes, I got those LBJs but in grey.

Those 30 for 30 documentaries are great...I've PVRed and watched practically all of them. Guru of Go was good...Once Brothers was very intriguing too...

The Bulls don't feel like they're in the same league as the truly elite teams but two of the supposedly most feared (or written about anyways)...Lakers and Heat...are so enigmatic...you never know when the real Eminem will stand up. I`m pulling for the Bulls, but don`t think they`re quite there yet this year. Rose has to continue to be more and more Jordanesque and Boozer and Deng gotta start wearing basketball shoes more often than dress shoes. (Haven`t followed Boozer`s career very closely, but he reminds me of the basketball equivalent of Sami Salo. The only time I hear about him is, "Boozer is back on the court again tonight after missing 25 games"...2 mins later, "Boozer's left knee crumbles as he comes down with the rebound"...haha)

Comment Posted by danielcslau Mar 13, 2011 02:30 PM

OK... I love the Bulls. And I think their title chances are pretty high (~15% this year... which is really good considering the number of great teams out there)... but multiple titles?!?! That means Rose must stay health and Boozer stays healthy (what Zechy said)... No chance Dwight goes to Chicago unless they do a sign and trade involving Deng, Boozer or Noah. Orlando wants no piece of Deng (complimentary player) or Boozer (stat padder / unclutch / noob slayer / injury faker).

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 13, 2011 04:07 PM

"you never know when the real Eminem will stand up" - this got me laughing pretty hard LOL.

Boozer's under-Ray-ted considering he was drafted in the second round of the Yao Ming draft - a draft that had Amare Stoudemire win Rookie of the Year and had Caron Butler as the only other All-Star ever produced from that draft class (yes, Boozer was an All-Star too, so that makes 4 total). He sure as heck is better than the 4th overall pick Drew Gooden LOL.

"stat padder / unclutch / noob slayer / injury faker" - LOL x 4!

But the Bulls have beaten some quality teams (e.g. Heat, Lakers, Spurs) this season, so you never know. If all teams are healthy, almost all playoff games should be quite competitive, whether they go 7 or not. I won't be surprised if it's the Bulls and Thunder meet in the Finals. I was thinking Celtics and Lakers the whole time until the Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins away.

It was 20 years ago that the Bulls won their first title. How time flies!

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 16, 2011 01:29 PM

Good job Justin! Why did Lix only play one game LOL.

If you want to know how Derrick Rose has gone from a talented young point guard to a league MVP contender in just his third season, it starts with the relationship Rose and coach Tom Thibodeau have forged over the past eight months.

Rose took to Thibodeau almost immediately when the two met last summer. Thibodeau let Rose know that he would give Rose greater control on the floor, let him be more of a decision maker, and have the Bulls play more of an up-tempo game to take advantage of Rose's speed.

At the same time he would be more demanding. Rose would have to play hard defense. He would have to work hard in practice. Plus, he would have to study game films. If Thibodeau was going to make him the leader, Rose would have to go out and actually lead.

Rose has accepted it and thrived with it. Besides honing his existing skills, he has expanded his game with improved shooting and defense. And not only has Rose become an MVP contender, the Bulls have established themselves as a legitimate threat to win the conference title. They are currently first in the Eastern Conference.

Tracy McGrady doesn't believe he could have become a better player if he had worked harder.

“I just wasn’t a great practice player,’’ McGrady, a Detroit guard, said in an interview with HoopsHype. “I just wasn’t. I wasn’t.’’

McGrady was brought up by Jeff Van Gundy at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference as a player who was immensely talented, but didn't work hard in practice. McGrady doesn't deny his natural talent impacted how he practiced.

“That could be it,’’ McGrady said. “I just think I could cruise through practice and still be effective. Some guys have to really go (all) out to really have an impact on practice. My ability was just I had God-given talent to where I could just cruise through practice and still be an effective practice player… I was inconsistent. Some days, I have really good (practice) days where I just go hard and a lot of days where like, ‘Uh,’ and I just go through the motions. But I work hard. But I’m just not the best practice player.’’

McGrady’s contention is he worked hard individually, if not in practice, to become a star and someone who still could land in the Hall of Fame. But Van Gundy and Morey were critical of his overall work ethic.

“Tracy McGrady was 1,000 hours of practice,’’ Van Gundy, now an NBA analyst for ABC and ESPN, said sarcastically at the conference. “He should be a Hall of Fame player. His talent was other-worldly. He was given a great leg up in the race against other players. He’s as close as I’ve ever seen to someone with a perfect body and a good mind… I just wish I could have changed his practice habits and his mentality.’’’

McGrady said he reached out to Van Gundy after learning about his remarks.

“I really took it as a compliment,’’ said McGrady. “And Jeff and I talk to this day. I actually talked to him after that. I sent him a text message. I was like, ‘Damn, I heard you were killing me in the media.’ And he was like, ‘No, no.’ But I was just giving him (junk).’’

And remember the name Enes Kanter. He's Turkish and will be an All-Star center one day. He's only 18.

Comment Posted by yyyello Mar 17, 2011 12:27 PM

LBJ = BP. I don't know if anybody else saw that block...cuz it seemed like I was the only one that reacted to it. Twas a nice block...

$10.25 just got announced today i think...they have been talking about it for awhile now...finally official.

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 17, 2011 03:29 PM

LBJ = LeBronze Jinx! =D

Hong Kong's minimum wage starting May 1 is HK$28, which is about CAD$3.50. Currently it doesn't have a minimum wage.

Oh my god that's sweet! Now I gotta figure out where my Kobe Lego is!

And man, you got me Youtubing a lot. I first Youtubed for Fab 5 clips, then C-Webb. I wouldn't say he's the best power forward of all-time, but he's definitely my favorite. Read the comments, they did get robbed in 2002 (they had Shaq back then and I wanted the Kings to win back in those days) as much as the Mavs did in 2006.

Yeah, he was pretty smooth.

LOL. I found out about that timeout thing years after he played in the NBA. To lose a game on a non-basketball play, ouch!

Where are the March 17 stats? =D

As if things weren’t interesting enough for the Golden State Warriors this season, former Warriors coach Don Nelson is weighing in now.

And if there is any validity to what he has to say, more on that in a second, then the new ownership situation for the Warriors couldn’t have come at a better time.

In a Monday night interview on “Chronicle Live” on CSN Bay Area, Nelson aired some of his own dirty laundry and that of many others. You have to read some of it to believe it, courtesy of Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle:

In his most provocative comment, Nelson seemed to say he was fired primarily for asking center Andris Biedrins to shoot his free throws underhanded. Biedrins shot an NBA-worst 16 percent in 2009-10, Nelson’s final season.

“I got fired when I asked him to shoot underhanded,” Nelson said, and there was no follow-up question. Nelson maintained that he had Rick Barry lined up to instruct Biedrins.

That was part of Nelson’s most extensive public comments since being fired in September and his only statements since breaking his silence February 3 with Ralph Barbieri and Tom Tolbert on KNBR. During Monday’s interview, he left open the possibility of coaching again and didn’t pull any punches about his career.

During his 31 seasons and an all-time best 1,335 wins, Nelson’s unique mind was polarizing. His legacy is seen partly as one of innovation and partly as one that emphasized style over substance.

In Nelson’s estimation, point guard Stephen Curry has taken a step back from his rookie season, and guard Monta Ellis didn’t want to accept the responsibilities of a point guard but is playing more like one than in his previous five seasons.

“I’m not planning to coach anymore,” said Nelson, 70. “I love Maui… I’m torn a little bit. I’ve had a couple of feelers already, just to check me out and see how I’m feeling. I don’t think that I will coach again, but you never say, ‘never.’ “

Other quotes of interest:

– “I made the dumbest trade in my history when I traded Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens.”

– “I begged the ownership to keep Chris Webber and let me go… and I could have been in San Antonio and had Tim Duncan.”

– “I thought we should trade Patrick Ewing and whoever else it took to get Shaq (O’Neal, when Nelson was coach) in New York. The next day, someone told Patrick Ewing, and that was the end of my career there.”

That’s quite a bit of revisionist history to digest for Warriors fans. Lifelong Warriors fan and NBA TV’s Brent Barry, son of Rick, is hanging out with us here at the hideout today, on The Jump and later tonight on the set for the TNT doubleheader.

His reaction to this stuff was nothing short of classic.

“I’d rather not dive into any of that,” Bones said. “As fans, it’s time to move on.”

Victor's too worried his Suns won't make the playoffs that his mind just wasn't in the games. Or he left his glove at home! =p

Comment Posted by Timeless Mar 27, 2011 04:54 AM

Not only did CW called that time out when he had no time outs left, there was also that travel that wasn't called. Happened in the same sequence too.

And yeah, the Suns seem pretty much out. 3 games back at the moment, tough schedule, and Memphis has the tie breaker.

Nooooo....

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 27, 2011 05:45 AM

So Lix's new nickname is CW now...

I've only watched the first quarter of that triple overtime game. Nash already had 7 or 8 assists! VC and Frye were on fire. Will watch the rest of it later this week. Go Suns!

Comment Posted by Timeless Mar 27, 2011 08:42 AM

That was the best game I saw all season. But I started watching from halftime until the end. Of course the best moments were in overtime, lots of good plays. VC cooled off at the end, didn't make any of his shots late game, but Frye kept them in it.

I wanna see a San Antonio Phoenix rematch!

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 27, 2011 09:01 PM

Dinner's on me if they beat the Spurs! That would be the biggest upset since the Warriors took out the Mavs in Disco Dirk's MVP season. That should've been Nash's third straight MVP season. But Dirk got the award because the Mavs got the #1 seed.

Former NBA star Ike Austin? Nice!

Wow, look at Zechy! He caps the night off with a game-winning trifecta! Happy Birthday Baby Z!

woah stats! nice :)

man, it was scary when erick passed out...hope he's alright now.

we won game 15 and 16 too, but our opponents were a mix of the other two teams since most guys left. i think zechy had even more points haha

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Mar 31, 2011 03:06 PM

I totally misread the "Erick passed out..." part and thought he passed the ball out of bounds or something. Was he okay shortly after? What happened?!

Why did most people leave? We only have 2 hours of ball instead of 3 now. Isn't playing time scarce? Or did Pipes' pipes scare people away?

Comment Posted by rblmr Mar 31, 2011 06:53 PM

Happy Birthday Z!!!!!!!

Does anybody know what that hell happened to Erick?

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Apr 01, 2011 07:10 AM

Also does anyone know why Ray is banned? No pun intended...

Comment Posted by vince Apr 01, 2011 11:35 AM

Asked Justin and he said he believes Erick is ok now, but didn't ball this week to have some rest.

Lil G played yesterday too! But he was really off, not his usual self. Will was a bit off too, but understandable, he's a dad and all and doesn't ball much these days...he's still got it though, just needs the warmup.

Ray's not banned, is he? He just never comes! haha

Lix sent an April fools text today saying we lost the gym because they played too late last night hahaa Scared me, thought we really lost the gym again haha

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Apr 01, 2011 02:38 PM

Good thing Matrix is okay!

Lil G?! Woohoo!

Banned and never comes... doesn't show up lol, guess you can put them in the same category.

Vince, you know Lix long enough to know that's bull lol! =p

By the way, I'm back in Vancouver!

Wow, its been a while.... anyway here's an update with the gym and ccwb members in general:

1)Erick is ok but is still recovering from the flu
2)Justin banged his knee by 100% last week and is recovering... should be good in a wk or two
3)Lil G is indeed back and I have placed him on as a temp reg.
4)Eric Go and Victor Liang are temp regs as well while Jeff and Lims are still away
5)Ray is not banned but he's been pulling a Sam Toa and telling me he is busy almost every week. I think he's a bit intimidated
6)Karson (my cousin) is back and will be around for the next little while.. hopefully he can become a regular but is still not in game shape.
7)Luis should be coming back soon but needs to adjust his work schedule.... we hope to see him back by summer.
8)Gym is in good shape and i should clarify that we have the gym until 10:45pm and need to be out by then.

Alrite, that's the update for now,

LIX

Welcome back Lester! I can't imagine you not being a regular... unless you Rayban yourself.

Get well soon, Erick and Justin. Freaky incidents!

That April Fools joke played by Lix was nasty... he should be banned! ;)

Ike Austin? Or Austin Rivers?!

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Apr 08, 2011 03:37 PM

That was an April Fool's joke. Wish I'm back! =(

Austin Rivers: "I Want to Destroy LeBron on the Court One Day." Doc Rivers’ kid doesn’t lack in confidence, to say the least, and plans on following in his father’s footsteps of getting in the way of LeBron James and others once he makes it to the NBA. "You’re rated one of the best players in the nation, but you routinely rub elbows with the best players in the world. Which players are you most in awe of?" Austin: "Well, I’ve met Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, you name it. A lot of people ask me who I’ve met through my dad, and they’re in awe when they hear the names of the players, but I’ve never looked at it like that. It’s cool meeting all of them, but I really want to be in their situation one day. I don’t want to just meet LeBron, I want to destroy him on the court one day."

Practice?

LOL! Fooled me. Just like Lix's bad joke. ;)

I think Austin's going to be a good pro... but he doesn't have a shooting guard body... he needs a few more inches.

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Apr 10, 2011 04:12 AM

We're bad lol, to the bone!

He seems pretty good, but soooooo cocky lol. "Destroy" somebody? Even the cocky Jordans, Kobes or Iversons back in the day didn't go THAT far!

Comment Posted by danielcslau Apr 11, 2011 08:42 AM

Agreed... way too cocky. And it's really hard for me to imagine him ever being a top 5 player in the league.

Comment Posted by Admin Lex Apr 11, 2011 01:03 PM

Well, hope he lands on a crappy team. Because that means he'll get lots of playing time and we'll see what he's made of lol.
