Highlights
7. Alf absolutely stylin in what Justin called a "Lumberjack Outfit". He had a red jacket with matching biege shoes, pants and hat~
6. After Lil Girl hits a J to make it 2-1 in game 2, Alf says, "I'm tired, guys!" WTF lol~
5. Vince finally decides to take off his long-sleeve shirt in game 14 when it's 2-2. You gotta do it earlier next time!
4. Also in game 14, Alf nails his teammate Whore in the head with a bullet pass while standing 2 feet away. Was he looking for Ray in the corner? Oh wait, Ray bailed AGAIN tonight...
3. Erick popped a trey with this team up 6-5 and missed. Then Whore hits a trey to win the game. We only needed a one lol...
2. In game 15 or 17, Alf grabs a defensive rebound and takes a dribble (or two). After killing his dribble, Alf did a few pivots to look for an open teammate. Without any options, Alf decides to dribble again and raced down to the other end of the hoop in no time. Nice try, man. This is gotta be one of the Top 5 All-Time Plays in CCWB History!
1. In the last game of the night, after Lester stole Luis's inbound pass to Alf in the post, Lester outlets to Emerson, who immediately got double-teamed once he was at the half-court line. Emerson tried to throw the ball over his head to a teammate, but Luis intercepts the pass and goes on a 3-on-2 break with Alf (in the paint) and Whore (dribbling the ball right down Broadway). Whore pulls up at the free-throw line over Lester and nails the game-winner. I just extended my arm and didn't jump because Alf would've had a lay-up if I did so. Cheap!

3. Zechy: the #1 star from last week (although I didn't officially put it down, but we all knew it) continues his stellar play tonight. Would've been higher up on this list if we had best record. Argh~ >.<
2. Luis + Whore = one word: CHEAP!
1. Alf: he usually fools around, but not on the eve of April Fool's because Whore was on his team and was barking at him all night long. Second-leading scorer; 4 (out of 9) game-winners; a beast in the post. Cheap!

3. Down 5-1 in game 8, Emerson's team stormed back to win 7-6. Woohoo!
2. Justin sucked the ball into his palm while Erick was attempting a lay-up in game 9. Yes, the block was silent because Justin seriously SUCKED it into his palm. Amazing!
1. Ray's text message to Lester regarding Team Alf + Erick + Hunter + Lil Girl + Luis + Zechy: "That's an over-Ray-ted team. They need a team player like me. LOL!" Well put. I can totally see this team going undefeated if Ray subbed in for Alf~ =D

4. In the last game, Alf hits his teammate Lester in the balls in the air while literally stealing a rebound away from him. Good job man, jeez, an extra rebound for ya. Richard: "Lester, jump up and down and you'll feel better." I did, but don't know if any good came out of it~
3. Zechy tried to pass the ball to his teammate Jeff at around the free throw line in game 8 or 10, and for some reason, Zechy slams the ball into Jeff's face. I don't know what happened there...
2. Emerson lets fly a trifecta in game 5 on Alf, and right after the release, he says to Alf, "In your face!" And then the ball swishes through the net. This play repeats itself in game 7, as a game-winner!
1. Again in the last game, Victor was attempting a lay-up and there wasn't much defence except for the fact that Richard was under the hoop. All Richard did was stand there with his hands DOWN. Victor got so scared he actually let the ball go from point-blank range. The ball never got higher than the bottom of the net, and it just fell into the hands of Richard. Alf said to Richard: "Next time you should just look down on the floor (when you see Victor driving in)! You are too intimidating!" Hahahahahaha~

*** 2 NEW RULES ***

1) Flagrant Foul: an unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent. It is an unsportsmanlike act and the offender is ejected immediately and will be banned from CCWB until further notice. This includes admins and regular players.

2) Interference: any sort of interference (i.e. shooting around with loose ball OR standing within the court EFFECTING GAME PLAY, etc.) will first lead to an initial warning for ALL PLAYERS. A second occurrence that night by ANYONE ELSE will be ejected immediately and the following week. Once again, this applies to both admins and regular players.

It's not like we did have a set of rules in place, but I think these 2 are no-brainers.

We just thought that if you want to warm yourself up, you should come early instead of interferring with the game play. We've seen many times that a partial breakaway becomes a check ball at the top, where the defence is set again, and this isn't fair to the team the with ball. It has happened too many times and it's time to do something about it.

You forgot to add the highlight of the night!

Felix and Daniel finally figures out why Lester ALWAYS gets to play on the stacked team (aka CHEAP TEAM!) and calls him on it.

Arms was the twelfth guy to show up but somehow gets to play in team 1 (which was Lester's team). Confused, both Felix and Daniel questions Lester, since teams are suppose to be arranged by order of arrival. Lester then attempts to explain himself by drawing circles on the scoresheet and using an extremely lame excuse. It turns out that Lester just "saved" a spot for Arms so that they could make the team cheaper than cheap! No wonder Lester always plays on the CHEAP TEAM! No wonder it's so hard to get best record these days!

CHEAP TEAMS!

If I arranged the teams by order of arrival, my team would've been Emerson, Jason, Victor, Zechy. Well, I guess I have to play center then, I guess that's fine. As you can see, the SF, PF, and C will all be under-sized. I picked up Brad Miller because he was the earliest big to come in. Lims and Z were the earliest guards, so J and Vic went to team 2. Felix wondered why he isn't on my team... well, I already got Brad Miller, and the 2nd team would've been so thin if Lix was on my team.

Lix claimed he came in 3rd, that's untrue. And Arms did NOT come in as the 12th guy lol. Stop exaggerating! =p

And I offered the trade for Edison and Lil Girl.

One more thing... remember when Sam was still playing, there was a time when my team had Ray, Sam, and one more big? Didn't I send a big to the 2nd team? I could've saved all my bigs and had a REAL cheap team, you guys.

If I wanted to create my own cheap team, wouldn't I have "saved" a spot for Hunter? It's quite obvious he's the one always getting best record nowadays, jeez. I would have to do a lot of things to be considered in the same class as the "cheap" people. Alf is still the head of that particular department, followed by the you-know-whos... lol~

I honestly don't mind too much about how the teams are formed but here's my take:

The whole point of arranging teams by order of arrival is that it is a random process... the process may not make fair teams every night, but on average, the teams would be fair. When it's part order of arrival, part team needs, it's no longer a random process. Also, we've had some nights of "team big" vs. "team small" before, so it's not like teams are always balanced. Furthermore, team small is not necessarily at a disadvantage because they could use their speed more.

this was a last resort for me because people are reluctant to be captains. it's quite pathetic not being able to find 3 people that want to be captains...

First of all, i think we need to give lester a break. It is not easy to make up even teams with people randomly coming in at different times and not knowing who will be a 'no show'. It is actually very difficult to make 3 completely even teams because it would require 3 C,PF,SF,SG,G of equal skill to come out every week. Which we know is never the case. Right now, I think we are just over reacting and over using the term "CHEAP TEAMS".

If you look at the win/loss for the past few weeks (w/ exception to feb 10, don't know what happened that week), the records are fairly even. It is not exactly 5-5 for everyone but what i'm saying is no one team is getting blown out of the court. One shot here or there would of balanced out the records.

I think the way Lester is making the teams right now is the best possible solution. i.e. it would be more balanced than having just randomly going by order. Dan is correct in saying 'on average' the teams would be even in the sense that one week you might be randomly put in a weaker team and the next week you might randomly be put on a dominating team. But on any given night, one team may be put a huge disadvantage based on the order of arrival. I guess we need to ask ourselves, do we prefer being on a dominating team one week and risk being on a weaker team the next week? or do we rather have balanced records every week. If we like the second choice, then i think Lester's method is the best we have for now until someone comes up with something better.

just voluntarily go on ray's team. that way, you can't say you're on a cheap team. j/k ray~ =p

Ok... First off, I didn't write my original post to talk shit about Lester... it was just meant to give him a hard time jokingly (just like how some ppl like to joke about Lester and somebody's sister ;p).

Secondly, I feel obliged to respond to Justin's post given the fact that I disagree with some of his logic: a) not knowing who's a no show has nothing to do with making random teams; b)nobody is looking for completely even teams; c) the fairly even records in the past couple of weeks are not necessarily the result of Lester's tinkering of the teams.

If you guys want to see a zero loss record again, just have me as captain. I know how to make that teams very well.

it's all good, guys! clearly there's no foolproof solution to this, but my initial intention of doing the 1st-5 2nd-5 was so that we could play right away when we have 11 guys (the 11th as a scorekeeper). since sam and i are the only 2 people that voluntarily want to be captains, and sam hasn't played in months, i made the change. keep in mind too, that sam is a far more superior player than me, that particular bracket of the 3 captains is unfair to start off with (i.e. it is VERY unlikely for me to have a cheap team lol).

yeah. one thing i forgot to mention is that even with captains, there's still a chance of one or two team(s) being stacked. we can have a committee to make sure all the teams are fair before the games begin. but of course in that case, how long would it take before the first game actually starts? an hour? hahahahaha...

i remember da day when i ended up on the same team with sam and another big, but i think somebody was traded away (probably me) to even out the size.

it's hard to do this random thing, but we started doing it instead of the captain thing to try to get the games going faster, which has worked out pretty well i guess. there will be times we see the proverbial "cheap team" but as long as dat doesn't happen all the time then i guess we should stick wit it.

if we do decide to go back to having captains then molester's groupings of captains seem fine. just my 2 cents.

I think part the reason for the low shooting percentages is because of the tough D. I have 2 big bruises on my leg from getting hit while dribbling the basketball. Edison, Jeff and Vince played like Yao Ming, Ron Artest and Shane Battier on D.

If Lebron leaves Cavs and goes to NY, I don't think he'll get more than 2 titles. He's not good enough to be a one man show (no one is), but he's only good playing with certain types of stars (the Mo Williams type... the star that he plays with can't be ball dominating, i.e. J-Kidd, Steve Nash, CP3, can't clog the key, i.e. Shaq, D Ho and Al Jefferson, and must be able to catch and shoot well, which rules out D Wade, Devin Harris and Garmelo). Lebron could probably play well with guys like Yao, KG, Duncan, Pau Gasol and MAYBE Deron Williams. He doesn't see it now because every star thinks they're invincible, but he'll really regret it if he leaves.

Lester, according to you, last week's cheap team had Zechy, Arms, Erick and Vince on it. This week, Zechy, Arms and Erick was on the SAME TEAM AGAIN... AND it also had you, Lix and a HOT shooting Emerson. Their team this week is clearly better than their team last week... and somehow, you don't think it's cheap! You guys are definitely not the blue collar team.

Lix, it wasn't Ken's fault you stole the ball from him a couple of times. I made the bad passes.

with me on their team, it totally offsets the cheapness lol. you and i aren't even in the same tier in terms of talent level, so of course you PLUS them would be super duper cheap! lims wasn't that hot compared with you and monkey lol. any team with lix on it is blue collar. can you imagine what him and i went through all of last night guarding alf and ken? it was a mismatch anyway you looked at it! that's why i yelled out "fxxx" so loud after you made that very last shot... i worked so hard to get that steal. even before that, i was battling for position with alf for so many possessions in crunch time. ahhh, all that work for nothin. oh well, there's always next week...

OK, I don't want to go into an in depth discussion of ball skills, but what I can say is that you offer a lot more versatility, mid-range, rebounding and defensive toughness to your team, which more that offsets my scoring (which can be quite inconsistent at times... especially when I come back from injuries etc.)

And yes, Lims was hitting everything from downtown last night.

I agree that Alf and Ken is A LOT to handle, but when you guys were on offense, your shooting drew them away from our basket and disrupted our interior D and rebounding.

as far as i know, there's always gonna be various flaws in the team selections whether its by the order of ppl coming in, or team captains. etc etc. we can always allow teams to make trades but not everyone likes to be traded and that may slow the game down as well. pretty silly in my opinion.

i like this style of making teams because we can start right away when we have 10 players instead of waiting around seeing who wants to be captain and then have the captains take 15 more minutes to make up their teams.
